The Cultural Curriculum Project

MISSION

The Cultural Curriculum Project, a 501c3 tax exempt organization, develops, coordinates, and funds meaningful and engaging public school field trips that connect students with art, culture, and history of South Louisiana. Included in every field trip are Culture bearers and community leaders whom are paid a living wage to share their expertise, traditions, and personal stories with the students; promoting cultural appreciation, preservation,  a sustainable cultural economy and pride in our communities. The results build social emotional skills and improve academic outcomes for students.

JAMES ANDREWS

New Orleans native James Andrews earned the "Satchmo of the Ghetto" alias back in his Treme neighborhood and the name still sizzles in the city!!! He came up through a variety of brass bands (Treme Brass Band, New Birth Brass Band) before forming his own band, Crescent City AllStars. He has played with Quincy Jones, Dizzy Gillespie, Danny Barker, Dr. John and Michelle Shocked. A protégé of soul man Allen Toussaint, Andrews has taken his place alongside legends swinging the New Orleans tradition in contemporary ways. He is determined to keep the flame of New Orleans Soul and R&B alive and burning in the hearts of many....
